Since when have dolls been around?

Dolls have been around since the Stone Age. Archaeologists repeatedly find dolls made of bone and stone that prove this. Later, carved dolls, patch dolls and porcelain dolls were added. Modern dolls have been around since the 15th century, industrial doll production since about the 19th century.

In the 1960s, toy manufacturer Zapf produced robust plastic dolls. Plastic was cheap and therefore everyone could afford a doll. Almost at the same time, the Barbie doll from Mattel came onto the market, to which there are all sorts of accessories godlike productions. Barbie dolls are known to practically everyone today. Brand new are lifelike dolls, which even have different functions and are partly battery-operated.

What kind of children’s dolls are there?

As already shown above, today you have a large selection of different dolls. You can select these age-appropriate based on the material and the functions. Babies and toddlers can play with soft dolls made only of fabric. Later, plastic dolls that have movable limbs are possible. In addition, you can regularly give away other accessories.

Particularly popular are Baby Born and My Little Baby Born by Zapf as well as Baby Annabell and My First Baby Annabell. They are much larger and more mobile than a Barbie. And they have different functions depending on the version, can eat and pee, for example. Fun for every doll mom.

Babyborn and My Little Babyborn

The lifelike-looking Baby Born has 9 different functions. It is 43 cm tall and does not require batteries. But it can’t make any noises either. It is recommended from the age of 3 years.

The My Little Baby Born is cuddly soft stuffed and works without batteries. It is 32 cm tall and suitable for children from 1 year. The doll has sleeping eyes and a removable pacifier. It is intended for the first role-playing game.

Baby Annabell and My First Baby Annabell

Baby Annabell is recommended from the age of 3 years. It reacts to touch and can make realistic baby sounds. Among other things, she can even cry and make peasants. It is stable and battery-operated.

My First Baby Annabell is smaller and has a soft fabric body and vinyl arms and legs. It is suitable for children from 1 year and has only sleeping eyes, but no additional functions.
