It is important to enjoy your meal and not just wolf it down—and if you are gulping it down, there is a good chance you are not enjoying it. Make sure you give yourself enough time between bites so that your body has time to register that you are full. Do not give in to mindless eating; does not talk with friends while eating; set aside one hour every day where only me counts.

Keep Meals Small

A gastric sleeve limits your stomach’s capacity, so it makes sense that you want to limit how much you eat at each meal. Your goal should be to eat smaller meals more frequently. Just be careful not to overeat, as that can also slow down your weight loss after surgery. It is a good idea to avoid high-calorie snacks such as chips and crackers. Stick with nuts and unsalted pretzels instead. Both will keep you feeling full without adding too many calories to your daily intake.

Drink Liquids Between Meals

When you are on a Gastric Sleeve Meal Plan, you should drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water per day. You can also drink coffee and tea without sugar or milk, but it is not recommended to add any sweeteners. Be sure to count these beverages when calculating your daily fluid intake—most drinks have calories in them. Drinking liquids between meals helps fill your stomach with less food overall, so you feel fuller with fewer calories. If you want something other than water, choose flavoured seltzer water over fruit juice because it is lower in calories and has no added sugars. Avoid sweetened teas and coffees, which have a lot of extra calories from added sugars and fat from milk or creamers.

Chew Food Thoroughly

There is some debate over how long it takes to chew food, but there is little doubt that eating slowly makes it easier to eat less. So make sure to consume enough lean protein, including fish, skinless chicken breast, egg whites, beans and tofu.
